Your role as Senior Program Advisor GIS will be to work with the GIS Manager to provide authoritative advice and consultancy as a GIS specialist for QRA and its agency clients through the acquisition, analysis, presentation and maintenance of spatial information. You will provide input into the development of GIS policies, guidelines and related standards.

  • Provide leadership in GIS service delivery, strong cartographic and data management skills with the ability to provide support in the management, and monitoring of the ESRI Enterprise GIS environment.
  • Manage the acquisition, processing, maintenance, validation, governance, and delivery of geospatial data to ensure GIS databases, mapping products and web applications are up to-date, and develop new processes and procedures, as necessary.
  • Provide expertise and innovation in design, scoping, technical leadership and delivery of GIS projects particularly related to natural disaster resilience and recovery, from data management to web-based solutions including portal, online web mapping and mobile applications.
  • Identify and manage projects, to improve corporate-wide GIS support according to business needs. Meet with end-user departments to understand needs; using input from the users & research to evaluate and implement solutions.
  • Develop workflows and automate processes using Model Builder, Python, FME and/or WebApp builder, to increase efficiencies and assist customers with automation of tasks.
  • Liaise, consult, and negotiate with departmental staff, clients, professionals and other agencies to maintain the integrity and integration of geospatial information across the state.
  • Provide advice around GIS and ICT governance and strategic direction of spatial technology for QRA, including the development, implementation and maintenance of GIS knowledge management processes.
